Removing barriers to local food distribution

This group will seek to identify specific policy barriers – including local and state ordinances – that hinder the local food market and access to healthy food. The research will compile a report on identified barriers as well as possible solutions and analysis of pros and cons of existing policies or proposed changes. Then the group will work to educate the public, decision makers, and producers on the barriers and potential solutions.

The original dream for this group was to organize a conference of local public servants working in health, agriculture, and other disciplines impacting access to the food system for producers and consumers. We seek to design this work in a collaborative manner noting the sensitivity of balancing various health concerns.
